I’m horribly transparent…

I thought that title was befitting seeing as William Butler Yeats was Ireland’s greatest poet (and my personal favourite.)

I’M IN IRELAND.

This is so exciting. I don’t even really know why I’m writing an entry when I’ve only just arrived. I have nothing to update. But my excitement was just so overwhelming. I got in last night really late because my flight took forever to get off the ground. (that’s what I get for paying ten pounds to ride ryanair.) The whole situation was a mess. Since I got in late, I missed the last bus that was to take me to meet my good friend John Gowland. So I had to take an hour taxi ride that cost me 40 euro. disgusting.

But I’m here and I’m proud to say I started the weekend off right… with a… two pints of guinness.

john’s place is great. he’s in class right now but when he gets back we’re heading out into the city and probably won’t be back in till some time tomorrow morning.

Ireland Ireland Ireland. blessed be.

slainte!

The Lover Tells of the Rose in his Heart

ALL things uncomely and broken, all things worn out and old,
The cry of a child by the roadway, the creak of a lumbering cart,
The heavy steps of the ploughman, splashing the wintry mould,
Are wronging your image that blossoms a rose in the deeps of my heart.

The wrong of unshapely things is a wrong too great to be told;
I hunger to build them anew and sit on a green knoll apart,
With the earth and the sky and the water, re-made, like a casket of gold
For my dreams of your image that blossoms a rose in the deeps of my heart.

I hope you’re having fun in Ireland… Call me when you get back.
